COVID-19 UPDATE – 1ST APRIL 2020
Regarding Horizon Church & COVID-19 Measures
Firstly, we love you and we thank God every time with think of you (Philippians 1:3).
Thank you for your faith and flexibility in what has become a very necessary and significant set of changes for our community. Horizon people have approached the adjustments with characteristic enthusiasm, positivity and compassion for others. For this we are so grateful.
Several changes are now in place to keep us strong and connected as a church while holding closely to the measures that are required by our Government at this time:
1. ONLINE SERVICES & PROGRAMMING
On Sunday 22nd March, all Horizon Church Services went online (‘Horizon at Home’). No gatherings will be held onsite until further notice.
The following programs are also being run online:
- Horizon Leadership College
- Horizon Night College
- HZ Youth
- HZ Kids
- Men’s Prayer
2. THE CHURCH OFFICE
In keeping with best practice, our staff are now working offsite. They have been exceptionally adaptable and vigilant in meeting the needs of our church and continue to run our ministry and operational functions with excellence.
Reception is still open for phone calls, which will be answered and directed to staff members during office hours.
3. LIFE GROUPS
Life Groups are now running online. New Life Groups are being started to accommodate our growing congregation.
Several online giving methods are available to assist in receiving Tithes and Offerings and Foundation Giving. Please see the Giving option on our webpage.
5. THE PANTRY PROJECT
The Pantry Project is now operating. This initiative gives Horizon people the opportunity to donate basic pantry items to assist those in need. Collection boxes will be at the main doors of the church Mon – Thurs, 9am – 5pm.
6. ASSISTANCE FOR OUR CHURCH COMMUNITY
Horizon Church is a caring community that seeks to nurture the welfare of its people. Should you wish to speak to one of our pastors during this time, please phone reception during office hours or email Pastor Deb Lenzo e: [email protected].
Thank you for your prayerful understanding at this time. We will update you as things return to their normal rhythms and we are able to resume our regular services and onsite ministries. Until then, we pray that you know that you are highly favoured and deeply loved.

COVID-19 UPDATE – 18TH MARCH 2020
Firstly, we want you to know that we love you. We count it such a privilege to be your Pastors and we are praying that you and your family are faring well in this season.
We are reaching out to update you on the changing requirements related to the Covid-19 situation and the direction we are now taking as a church.
Our leadership met today and have prayerfully decided that from this weekend onwards, we will be moving all of our Sutherland church services online. There will, therefore, be no large physical gatherings onsite as of this weekend (until further notice). This will also extend to all our onsite Sutherland weekly department ministries including Friday night Youth and Horizon Kids. We made this decision in faith, recognising our social responsibility and our call to spiritual leadership in this season.
Church is still happening; the way we meet has changed!
WELCOME TO HORIZON AT HOME
It’s important that we all understand that Church is not ‘closing’, but rather, we are changing HOW we do services together in this season.
‘HORIZON AT HOME’ SERVICES ONLINE
As of this week we will be holding a 9.30am and a 6.00pm Service for you to participate in LIVE online – or on demand at a later time.
In addition to this, we will have exciting Youth and Kids content that we will be bringing so stay posted!
Very Shortly we will be providing you with a link to ‘HORIZON AT HOME’ via email and sms. Please make sure that we have your most current details. You can do this at: HZ.church/hello
LET’S STICK TOGETHER
In addition to our ‘Horizon at Home’ Services we will be sharing some great ways that we will be remaining strong and connected as a church community. We will be writing to you tomorrow about these initiatives that will not only help fuel our family, but will support those in our neighbourhood that need some extra TLC and practical kindness during this period. As one leader beautifully put it, we may be ‘socially distancing’ but as the church we remain in ‘divine proximity.’
Whilst these can be uncertain times, we are filled with a certain and unshakable faith that God is good and that He loves His children. He is the good Shepherd and He is lovingly and carefully leading us through this moment in history:
“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
With Love from your Pastors,
Brad and Ali
